Dean's office hands out masks to faculty and staff
On Monday, June 8, Dr. Ron Cisler, dean of the College of Health and Human Services, along with several employees from the dean's office, set up a drive-through station at the CHHS building to hand out masks to faculty and staff.
The masks were made by Eriz Hughey with materials provided by the Western Regional Area Health Eduction Center. Eriz and her son Alex made and packaged hundreds of masks since COVID-19 first sent WMU employees home in early March. With help from Tiffany White, CHHS business manager, many masks have been delivered to CHHS employees in and around Kalamazoo.
More than 60 CHHS employees stopped at the pop-up drive-through.
"I wanted to thank the dean's office for handing out masks to the CHHS family," says Mandy Cox, CHHS advisor. "It was so good to see everyone’s faces… even if they were mostly covered."
The event was an opportunity to snap photos of employees for the #whyImask social media campaign. Almost everyone who participated had their photos taken holding a sign saying "why they mask." You can watch our Facebook feed for more of those photos over the coming days and weeks.
The college encourages everyone to share why they mask. Simply download your own sign, snap a photo and post it to social media with the hashtags #whyImask and #CHHSCares.
"The drive-through mask event was amazing," says Dean Cisler. "It was wonderful to engage with our terrific staff and faculty who made the trip to the event. I want to thank everyone who came.
