Anti-Bias, Anti-Racism Workshop

The Eliminating Racism and Creating / Celebrating Equity (ERACCE) will conduct a virtual anti-bias, anti-racism workshop on October 5 and 6, 2022 for three hours each day, from 9 a.m. to noon. This workshop fulfills the two-hour implicit bias requirements recently passed by the Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) for several health and human professions, including audiology, nursing, occupational therapy, physician assistants, physical therapy, social work and speech-language pathology.

By the end of the training, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe implicit bias and its impact on education, health and healthcare
  2. Demonstrate communication techniques that build trust in diverse setting
  3. Identify a process for making decisions that considers multiple perspectives

In addition, this training aligns with CHHS and the CHHS Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion which calls us to "examine our curricula, programs and practices to identify and dismantle institutional and systemic racism contained within; and commit to strengthening student, staff and faculty professional development with principles of antiracism, social justice and unity" (CHHS, 2020, para 1).

About ERACCE

ERACCE, founded in 2000 as a collaboration between the Kalamazoo Northside Ministerial Alliance, the Kalamazoo Anti-Racism Alliance, and the Synod, has a mission to eliminate racism in southwest Michigan.  To accomplish this mission, ERACCE has trained thousands of individuals.  In the last two years alone, ERACCE has facilitated more than 75 anti-bias, anti-racism workshops for healthcare and education professionals.
