SLP grad student Altobella receives state association award

Speech pathology and audiology graduate student Arica Altobello was selected as a 2015 Michigan Speech-Language-Hearing Association Scholarship recipient and accepted the award at a luncheon in Lansing this past March. Ms. Altobello received her B.S. in speech, language, and hearing sciences at Northern Michigan University, graduating magna cum laude, and will begin her second year graduate study at Western, expecting to graduate in May of 2016.
Born and raised in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, Ms. Altobello is the first in her family to graduate from college and to attend graduate school. Her goals are to work in a pediatric hospital and eventually make her way to a school setting. Recently, she spent several weeks training Kalamazoo area preschool teachers on a phonological awareness curriculum.
