Sarah Wirth, MSW Candidate

Sarah has a B.S. degree in behavioral science, a B.A. in criminal justice, and a graduate certificate in addiction studies from Western Michigan University. She is in her final year of the Master of Social Work program. Sarah's current field placement is at Integrated Services of Kalamazoo, working in case management. Sarah works for Bent9 Hot Yoga studio as an instructor, reiki practitioner and front desk staff member.
Why did Sarah choose social work?
“Social workers value human dignity, justice and fairness. I also embrace these values and work towards these values each day. To stay motivated when work is challenging, I offer myself the same compassion, grace, and care I would extend to a client and practice self-reiki often. There is truly so much that social workers can do professionally. They can be found in hospitals, in communities, in government, in schools, and in nonprofit administration, among many other settings. The possibilities are really endless and I like the adaptability that comes with the work.”
