Study Abroad
Western Michigan University’s first study abroad program was launched in 1945 and the establishment of exchange relationships with international institutions began in 1961.
WMU Study Abroad currently offers:
- 80 programs in 30 countries—conduct a program search in the WMU Study Abroad Application Portal.
- Credits that can count toward degree completion for all majors and minors, both undergraduate and graduate.
- International internships for credit.
- Many short-term, summer programs led by WMU faculty.
- Financial aid applicable to study abroad, including Kalamazoo Promise and Michigan Education Trust.
- Scholarships, including those for foreign language-based study and short-term, faculty-led programs.
