WMU Study Abroad student


Western Michigan University’s first study abroad program was launched in 1945 and the establishment of exchange relationships with international institutions began in 1961.

WMU Study Abroad currently offers:

  • 80 programs in 30 countries—conduct a program search in the WMU Study Abroad Application Portal.
  • Credits that can count toward degree completion for all majors and minors, both undergraduate and graduate.
  • International internships for credit.
  • Many short-term, summer programs led by WMU faculty.
  • Financial aid applicable to study abroad, including Kalamazoo Promise and Michigan Education Trust.
  • Scholarships, including those for foreign language-based study and short-term, faculty-led programs.
