Phone Services Transition to Webex Calling
Posted by Gary Barton on March 5, 2025WMU is modernizing phone services to a software-based system using Webex Calling. This service allows users to use an app on their WMU-provisioned device such as a computer or mobile device in lieu of a physical desk phone. Internal device microphones/speakers, earbuds, headsets and other peripherals can be used in the same fashion as we currently do for virtual meetings. Desk phones will still be available for departmental workstations such as reception desks, call centers and other shared workspaces.
A university-wide audit of phone numbers is currently being performed. Once the audit is complete, the transition schedule and preparation instructions will be communicated to current phone users. All new phone users will begin using Webex Calling immediately.
