Campus office hours released for Thanksgiving recess

KALAMAZOO, Mich.—No Western Michigan University classes will be held during Thanksgiving recess from Monday, Nov. 23, through Sunday, Nov. 29.

Classes resume at 8 a.m. Monday, Nov. 30.

Some WMU offices will close or operate on limited hours Thursday through Sunday, Nov. 26-29. Listed below are Thanksgiving Day hours for selected University offices and services. Faculty, students and the public are encouraged to call ahead to make sure that a particular office on campus is open. Building hours are in the process of being adjusted due to recent state mandates and are listed here. Visit the webpage often for updates.

Office closings apply to non-represented University employees. Many represented employees have contractually scheduled regular work days Nov. 26-27 since the University continues to provide services during Thanksgiving recess. Represented employees should direct questions to their management.

Closures and special hours

Many offices, including Admissions, Bronco Express, financial aid and Office of Student Transitions will be closed Nov. 26-29.

Aviation Shuttle service will run through Nov. 25, with the last departure from the College of Aviation at 4:10 p.m.  There will be no service Nov. 26–29. The shuttle will resume Nov. 30 through Dec. 18.

Bernhard Center and Bronco Mall close at 6 p.m. Nov. 25 and will remain closed Nov. 26-27. Visit the Bernhard Center on the web for a complete listing of fall hours.

The Help Desk will provide support via phone, email and ITDirect until 8 p.m. Nov. 25 and reopen at noon on Nov. 29.

Metro Transit service on campus will end on Nov. 20 and resume Jan. 10 for spring semester.

Miller Auditorium has suspended operations until further notice. Use the contact form for questions.

Sindecuse Health Center, including the pharmacy, is closed Nov. 26-29. Virtual appointments are available from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Nov. 23-25 and will resume at the same time Monday through Friday on Nov. 30. Medical emergencies should be referred to local hospitals or other health care providers.

Student Recreation Center closes at 3 p.m. Nov. 25, is closed Nov. 26-29 and resumes regular hours beginning Nov. 30, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. There will be no in-person fitness classes, but virtual classes will continue. There will be no competitive sports, including club practices, through Dec. 8.

Unified Clinics will close Nov. 26-27 and reopen for regular hours beginning at 8 a.m. on Nov. 30.

WMU Libraries' first floor of Waldo Library will close at 5 p.m. on Nov. 25 and reopen at noon on Nov. 29. For more information on hours, call (269) 387-5155 or visit hours.

Energy savings

To reduce energy costs during the recess, heating and cooling systems in all office and classroom buildings controlled by the WMU Building Energy Management System will be in holiday mode, unless a space is exempt from the program. The temperature in spaces will not go outside of the range of 60 to 85 degrees. Portions of a particular building that do not regularly go into night setback mode will not go into holiday mode.

Employees are reminded to shut off and unplug all non-essential electronics before the long weekend.
