Gerardo "Mac" Rincon began his professional career at Kellogg’s as an industrial engineer in 1988. For the next eight years he held various positions in manufacturing operations, eventually serving as manager of the industrial engineering department at the Battle Creek Plant, the largest cereal manufacturing facility in the world at that time. In 1996, Rincon transferred to corporate operations where he led continuous improvement projects across all Kellogg's North American manufacturing. In 2000, he became a global commodities manager in charge of the three largest ingredients for Kellogg’s at the time: corn, wheat and oats. Rincon led several strategic sourcing initiatives yielding several million dollars in ingredient savings and structured long-term strategic supplier relationships. For the next 10 years, he worked in new product introduction, logistics and distribution, data management and SKU optimization. Rincon was responsible for teams managing the launch and supply chain implementation of Kellogg's U.S. new products and promotion introductions. He was responsible for developing and implementing a project management software which became the main tool utilized by sales and marketing. For 10 years, Rincon worked hand-in-hand with sales, marketing, supply chain, logistics and operations, coordinating all North American promotions requiring changes in packaging, new packaging designs and new product introductions. Rincon retired from Kellogg’s in 2018 after 30 years of service. That same year, he accepted a part-time instructor position with the WMU Department of Management, teaching production management and control as well as business process productivity courses.
