Dr. Zhuo grew up in Guizhou, China, and has lived and studied in both the United Kingdom and the United States. As a fourth-generation educator, she developed a lifelong commitment to teaching, student development and cross-cultural understanding. With more than a decade of experience in language education, she began her career as an English as a Foreign Language (EFL) instructor in China and has since taught Chinese language and culture in the U.S.
As the GUFE Manager and Program Manager and Advisor at Western Michigan University, Zhuo supports international academic partnerships, advises students and facilitates cross-cultural educational initiatives. She is dedicated to helping students navigate their academic journeys, fostering meaningful intercultural connections, and promoting global learning opportunities. Her background in language instruction and international education enables her to effectively bridge cultures and support diverse student populations.
Outside of her professional responsibilities, Zhuo enjoys traveling, reading, films, and music, particularly singing Chinese folk songs. She is also an avid practitioner of Chinese calligraphy, one of her favorite hobbies. She frequently shares this traditional art form through demonstrations at cultural events and festivals, helping others appreciate the beauty and cultural significance of Chinese characters.
