George Hoyem, executive vice president, investment at In-Q-Tel.George Hoyem has more than 25 years of entrepreneurial, operations and venture capital investing experience in high technology companies. At In-Q-Tel (IQT), the strategic venture capital arm of the U.S. Intelligence Community, Hoyem is the executive vice president, investments, where he leads the investment team. Hoyem has led various focus areas and dozens of investments at IQT. 

He has also backed, supported and served on the boards of several dozen emerging technology companies over his career. He has also served on the board of directors of the National Venture Capital Association, the venture capital community’s flagship trade association, where he advocates for issues relevant to corporate and strategic investors.

Prior to joining IQT, Hoyem was a venture capitalist at Blueprint Ventures, Redleaf Group and El Dorado Ventures. Preceding his career as a venture capitalist, Hoyem built an 18-year operating career in both startups and larger companies. As the general manager of Hewlett-Packard’s Internet Commerce Division, he was responsible for a $40 million profit and loss statement. Prior to HP, he was a general manager with companies such as VeriFone, where he contributed to the $1.3 billion sale of VeriFone to HP.
