According to the University’s 2022-23 Career Outcomes Report, 97% of College of Engineering and Applied Sciences graduates have participated in experience-driven learning during their time at Western Michigan University. Our students are gaining hands-on experiences through working in our labs, completing internships and participating in student organizations. In this edition of Inspire Magazine, you’ll hear from a current industrial and entrepreneurial engineering student sharing her experiences working with a peer mentor, connecting with alumni, and completing multiple internships. You’ll also get insights from a recent manufacturing engineering technology graduate about his time on the Bronco Racing Formula SAE team and how it paved the way for his full-time role as a manufacturing engineer.
You will also read about groundbreaking new research underway and the faculty members, graduate students and undergraduate students at the helm, including:
- Four undergraduate students who participated in research internships and their unique projects
- A team of WMU researchers, including undergraduate and graduate students, who developed a novel and sustainable method for treating pollutants in water and whose research is being published in an upcoming edition of the Journal of Water Process Engineering
- A group of aerospace engineering undergraduate and graduate students who traveled to France to present at the annual International Electric Propulsion Conference in June 2024
