PA students gather donations at MAPA conference

WMU physician assistant students attended the Michigan Academy of Physician Assistants (MAPA) 42nd Annual Fall CME Conference in early October. The conference is the largest meeting for physician assistants, PA students and PA educators in Michigan and in the upper Midwestern states.

This year's conference included a community service project that benefited Guiding Light, a non-profit organization which offers services for homeless men. Guiding Light provides shelter, meals, lodging, clothing and recovery/job assistance, among other things.

Students from six PA programs in Michigan competed to collect the most supplies like winter clothing, cleaning supplies, gift cards and personal care products for the organization.

When all the donations were displayed at the conference, it was clear that WMU's students had collected the most, with an estimated $2,500 worth of goods.

Congratulations and thank you, PA students, for your service and for your positive representation of WMU.
