Professional Instructor Teaching Excellence Award Nomination Form
Submit information about your nominee below. Criteria and considerations are below the form. See additional information about the Professional Instructor Teaching Excellence Award.
Award criteria
The award is based on evidence of an accumulated record of achievement as an instructor at WMU in relation to teaching excellence in one or more of the following areas:
- Classroom teaching
- Creative or innovative work as regards teaching, fieldwork or supervision
- Teaching that involves interdisciplinary or collaborative activity
Excellence in performance must be described in the nomination. Nominations should address the particular characteristics of excellence—including specific examples that address the criteria—which define exemplary work.
As a guideline, higher learning, which is an end-product of teaching excellence, has been defined by Tom Angelo as, "an active, interactive, self-aware process that results in meaningful, long-lasting changes—knowledge, understanding, skills, behaviors, attitudes, beliefs, opinions or values—that cannot be attributed primarily to maturation."
