Melinda Lockett receives Lee Honors College Distinguished Service Award
Melinda Lockett has long been known for her unwavering dedication to students and her deep commitment to the values of public service and education. This year, her exceptional contributions have been formally recognized as she receives the 2025 LHC Distinguished Service Award, an honor bestowed by the Lee Honors College staff at Western Michigan University.
Each year, the LHC selects staff members who have gone above and beyond in their service to honors students—those whose work meaningfully enhances the student experience and strengthens the college’s mission. Melinda was nominated by her colleagues for her years of impactful service, thoughtful mentorship and tireless support of students navigating their academic and personal journeys.
Her influence has been felt across campus, especially by students who have benefited from her guidance, advocacy and ability to connect them with opportunities that align with their passions. Whether supporting students through registration, helping them prepare for internships or simply being a steady presence in their lives, Melinda’s work continues to have a lasting mark.
Melinda will accept this award in person at the LHC Fall Graduation Ceremony on Friday, December 12 at 4:00 p.m. in Ballroom A of the Student Center.
Congratulations, Melinda, and thank you for your outstanding service!
