You're Invited: UCC 2nd Floor Open House – August 21, 2–4 p.m.

Students, faculty, and staff, join us for an Open House at the newly renovated University Computing Center (UCC) 2nd Floor on Thursday, August 21, from 2 to 4 p.m. Explore the Academic Innovation and Collaboration Zone, a dynamic space designed to support instructional technology, accessibility, and collaboration across campus.

This reimagined space—a collaborative partnership across campus—features:

  • A location at the heart of the campus
  • The Technology Help Desk walk-in support area
  • A state-of-the-art classroom and training space supporting traditional, hybrid, and hyflex teaching modalities
  • Collaborative zones with screens, dry-erase boards, and flexible configurations for study, discussion, and breakout sessions

Featured Activities During the Open House:

Team Reading Strategies 

Presented by Brian Gogan, Ph.D. 
Professor of English & Director of First-Year Writing 
UCC Classroom 2034 
Two sessions: 2:15 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. 
A 30-minute lecture exploring strategies for collaborative reading that can help ensure that students have engaged with their assigned reading and that colleagues have engaged with documentation (minutes, agendas, and supporting information) needed for meeting functions.

Instructional Design and Classroom Technology Staff

Instruction Design and Classroom Technology staff will be supporting the delivery of the Team Reading Strategies lecture in the new UCC 2034 classroom. Post-lecture, these staff members will be available to answer questions.

Library Services, Resources, and Mini Tours

Meet with University Libraries staff to learn about the services and resources they offer, and take part in 10-minute tours showcasing newly renovated library spaces.
Tour times: 2:50 p.m. and 3:50 p.m.

Phone Transition Project Overview

Meet with IT staff to learn more about how WMU is modernizing phone services to a software-based system using Webex Calling.

University CRM and Student Success Hub

Stop by and talk with members of the Enterprise Application Success team about Student Success Hub. Discover how Success Hub is supporting students in achieving persistence to graduation.

Our security team will be on hand to share insights into how you can stay vigilant and avoid being phished.
