Prior to joining the Office of Research and Innovation staff as a Research Program Officer, Jamie spent two years in the Oshtemo Township Public Works Department managing the water, sewer, and sidewalk infrastructure and submitting grant proposals to extend the public infrastructure. Jamie also worked for the United States Navy for 20 years at Naval Reactors. His responsibilities included regulatory oversight of the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Training Program’s three schools, four nuclear reactors, 6000 students, 2000 staff and coordinated the integration of technology into the curriculum, specifically: advanced audio and visual training aids into the classrooms, reactor control room and submarine engine room simulators and a linear optimization model of the training program to maximize student throughput. During his time at Naval Reactors, Jamie also sponsored research into neutron embrittlement of low alloy steels and stress corrosion cracking of stainless steels.
