Western Michigan University, as a discovery driven university, values and promotes excellence in research and creative activities by all members of our community. As a part of that goal, it is important to provide the best organization and systems to advance this mission, support the faculty, staff and students seeking extramural funding for their activities, and assure we meet our obligations to our sponsors.
As part of the ongoing work to enhance our support for research, careful review has determined that a closer alignment between all stages of receiving and administering awards, grants, and contracts will add value to our service delivery and increase the efficiency of our discovery mission.
As of September 15, Grants and Contracts will report to the Vice President for Research while planning occurs for the physical move of the staff to Walwood Hall. In the meantime, work will continue to enhance and clarify our research polices, provide clear procedures to our staff and faculty, and work to streamline the efficiency and support of research at WMU.
We would like to thank the staff for their focus on enhancing research at WMU with this change and for their work serving our investigators and sponsors. Updates to the WMU community will continue as this change is implemented. Please direct any questions to Terri Goss Kinzy.
