President's Message on Named Term-limited Professorships

January 13, 2020

Dear Colleagues:

We are pleased to announce the call for applications for Western Michigan University Named Term-Limited Professorships for the July 1, 2020 - June 30, 2023 term.  The University seeks to recognize and support outstanding individuals who are making substantial, innovative contributions in teaching and/or research for the benefit of its students and society.  The goal of these Named Professorships is not to recognize past work but to support the advancement of innovative concepts and for the awardees to serve as role models of excellence and innovation in their discipline and area of expertise, be it research, teaching or another form of scholarship and continue the activities for which they were recognized and those proposed in their application.  All current full-time faculty at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor with at least three years of full-time employment at WMU at the time of appointment are eligible to apply.

We encourage you to consider this opportunity for yourself, but also to encourage your colleagues whose work is deserving of such an opportunity to engage in this process.  We anticipate up to three Named Term-Limited Professorships will be awarded.

Sincerely,

Edward Montgomery, President
Jennifer Bott, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs
Terri Goss Kinzy, Vice President for Research and Innovation
