Parent/Family Orientation

Parent and Family Orientation runs concurrently with the student program and gives you the opportunity to hear from campus departments such as housing, dining, financial aid, career services, and more. 

Western Michigan University prioritizes inclusion and accessibility for all participants attending New Student Orientation. Representatives from Financial Aid and Accounts Receivable will explain the financial aid process, discuss financing options, talk about the billing and payment process, and answer your questions. 

Housing and Dining Services

Learn about what to expect with your housing experience and where to eat on campus, as well as details about move-in and meal plans.

Lee Honors College

Learn about the Lee Honors College requirements, read some statements from current students, learn about upcoming events and meet the staff.

Academic Advising at WMU

This presentation gives an overview of our advising process and the Student Success Hub, which brings together support services from across campus into one online platform.

Student Success Services

Student Success Services is committed to providing academic support programs that connect students to resources they may need to achieve their academic and personal goals. Attend this session to learn more about the Bronco Study Zone, Learning Assistants, Supplemental Instructors, Peer Navigators, and Peer Academic Success Coaching.

Career and Student Employment Services | WMU Signature

Learn about resources to help students find and secure on campus jobs, internships, part-time jobs, and full-time jobs after graduation. This session will introduce WMU’s job posting platform – Handshake – and other resources for career planning. Also learn about the different experiences all students should plan to participate in as part of laying a strong foundation for future careers and job searches.

Health Promotion and Education - Empowering Bronco Wellness

Hear from our nationally-certified Peer Health Educators about the wellness services, prevention education, and employment opportunities HPE offers. Through programming on topics including mental health, violence prevention, sexual health, substance use, and more, students learn proactive coping strategies and skill building to take care of themselves at WMU and beyond.

Global Engagement and Study Abroad

Explore the world on campus, in the classroom and abroad! By attending events, enrolling in courses, studying abroad and more, students can earn Global Bronco, Global Explorer and Global Citizen status. Each status contains unique rewards, including scholarships for studying abroad on any of WMU’s 85 programs in over 30 countries. Ranging from a few weeks to an academic year, programs run year-round and all majors and minors are encouraged to participate.
