An OT’s Guide: Evidence Based and Clinically Supported Management of Neurogenic Bowel

Despite the many advances in neurological injury rehabilitation, neurogenic bowel remains a significant barrier to independence, social participation and quality of life. This presentation will provide a brief overview of neurogenic bowel and related patient/caregiver roles and routines. This presentation will also highlight supporting research and need for continued analysis. Additionally, we will examine the utility of adaptive equipment in facilitating independence. Finally, end with an introduction of case studies showing occupational therapy’s role in patient function. Completing this training offers 2 CE hours.
