Child Welfare Series 2022 - Trauma, Resiliency and Horse Sense

Posted by Joel Krauss for College of Health and Human Services

We will have a discussion with the author of Follow Me, Friend: a memoir of undiagnosed PTSD, and the healing power of the horse-human relationship.

This is a virtual CE session. We will send a link to registrants the week before the event.

The discussion will detail her personal experience living for over 25 years with the symptoms of PTSD from childhood sexual abuse she did not consciously remember, and the help she received as an adult through therapeutic interventions and her connection with horses. Then a presentation/discussion on the psychological, emotional, social, and developmental impacts of early childhood trauma and the effects into adulthood and the potential of equine assisted therapy as an adjunct intervention for children and adults dealing with trauma.
