Visiting Artist Series: Lynn Sures

Lynn Sures is a Washington, D.C.-based artist recognized for her innovative work in handmade paper and pulp painting, which she uses for drawing, artist books, printmaking, and sculpture. A former Smithsonian Artist Research Fellow, Sures’s work often explores the nexus of art and science, examining themes related to geology, human origins, and our interdependence with the natural world. Her significant contributions to the field of hand papermaking are reflected in collections at institutions like the U.S. Library of Congress and Yale University, cementing her reputation as a leading international practitioner.
