Experience-Driven Learning
At the College of Health and Human Services (CHHS), experience-driven learning is central to how students learn, grow and prepare for their careers. Through applied opportunities both inside and outside the classroom, students connect theory to practice and build the skills needed to make a meaningful impact.
Learning by doing
CHHS students engage directly in experiences that reinforce classroom concepts. These opportunities allow students to develop critical thinking, problem-solving and communication skills while gaining confidence in real-world settings.
Hands-on opportunities
Experience-driven learning in CHHS includes a range of applied opportunities that support student success and professional growth. These experiences are designed to deepen understanding, strengthen professional readiness and foster connections within the field.
A key component of this approach is the Unified Clinics, a multidisciplinary clinic within the college where students work collaboratively across disciplines to provide care for real patients in a supervised learning environment. This setting gives students the opportunity to apply their knowledge in meaningful ways while gaining firsthand experience in team-based, patient-centered care.
Preparing for impact
By participating in experience-driven learning, students graduate prepared to contribute in their professions and communities. These experiences help students clarify their goals, apply their knowledge in meaningful ways and transition successfully from academic study to professional practice.
A commitment to student success
CHHS is committed to providing accessible, high-quality experience-driven learning opportunities that support every student’s academic and professional journey.
