Vision Clinic optometrist honored as fellow
The Vision Clinic at the Unified Clinics, a College of Health and Human Services affiliate enterprise, is a premier eye care facility, with licensed and credentialed optometrists who provide high quality comprehensive vision care for a wide variety of visual needs.
Recently, Vision Clinic Optometrist Dr. Matthew Johnson achieved the prestigious fellowship accreditation "FAAO," recognizing him as a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. This designation signifies that Johnson has met rigorous qualifications involving presenting written and oral case studies, being evaluated through interviews and clinical assessment, and meeting the highest educational and licensure standards. Johnson was also recognized as Young Optometrist of the Year in 2011.
Along with other Vision Clinic optometrists, Johnson provides comprehensive vision care services to WMU employees and students—and community members—and also plays a key role in the instruction of Department of Blindness and Low Vision Studies graduate students. This unique combination of health care, clinical education and community service is a distinction offered by the College of Health and Human Services through all of the Unified Clinics.
The Vision Clinic carries a large selection of eyeglass frames and a large array of contact lenses. General optometric services include dilation for complete health exam and general eye health screening, as well as diabetic eye exams and evaluation for glaucoma, macular degeneration and cataracts. For individuals who are experiencing trouble seeing in certain situations, the clinic’s low vision services include an eye exam and complete functional vision assessment, and an evaluation of the effectiveness of a variety of low vision devices.
The Vision Clinic uses the most advanced technology and vision correction tools and is committed to improving quality of life through corrected vision. Call (269) 387-7064 to schedule an appointment.
