Bio:
Dr. Melinda Koelling is an associate professor in the Department of Mathematics at Western Michigan University. She studies optimal control with the Neurobiology Engineering Laboratory at WMU, directed by Damon Miller, and nonlinear neural response with Duane Nykamp. Koelling has also studied computational models of early stages of visual processing with Mike Shelley and Bob Shapley and qualitative behavior of generalizations of the Toda Lattice with Tony Bloch and Michael Gekhtman.
