WMU offers workshop on leadership in a technical world
KALAMAZOO, Mich.—Recognizing that many people with a technical education who work in a technical field are asked to take on leadership or management responsibilities, Western Michigan University will offer leadership training on April 1 and 2 from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. at WMU’s Grand Rapids location. Registration is ongoing until March 30; the total fee is $400.
Dr. Tim Greene, professor of industrial and entrepreneurial engineering and engineering management and former provost of WMU, will facilitate a two-day seminar for anyone wanting to explore their own leadership characteristics, knowledge, values and styles to define how they can become outstanding leaders in any industry, including manufacturing, distribution, product development, medicine, pharmaceutical, government or education.
The seminar takes the basic understanding of yourself as a leader and explores how you can be an effective manager using your leadership style. It also focuses on the important aspects of being a successful leader and the processes of managing.
Professionals with technical education who are contemplating leadership positions or management or those interested in leading technical areas are particularly suited to this workshop.
