WMU Giving Day - Political Science
#WMUGivingDay will kick off at midnight on April 14, 2021 giving alumni and friends a chance to give back to WMU.
Since 1903, Broncos have been helping Broncos succeed at Western Michigan University. WMU Giving Day is the opportunity for Broncos to lift one another up to make WMU the institution of choice in Michigan, and to ensure all student who seek to make a difference in the world the opportunity to do so with an education from WMU.

Select an initiative below on April 14 and make a gift of any amount to the department.
- Mock Trial Fund allows the team to travel to competitions.
- Scholarships honoring former faculty provide funds for both undergraduate and graduate students of political science:
- David Houghton Scholarship Fund – provides scholarships for interns to work in Washington D.C. and Lansing
- Lawrence Ziring Endowed Scholarship Fund – provides scholarships to graduates students. Preferences will be given to international students in the MIDA program and who can demonstrate financial need
- Claude and Nancy Phillips Dissertation Research Fund – supports dissertation research by a doctoral student in political science
- William A. Ritchie Memorial Fund – awards outstanding students in political theory
- Donald Gilmer Endowed Scholarship Fund – recognizes students interested in careers in public service. Preferences are given to Capital Intern Program participants.
- Unrestricted development funds – are used to support student success, faculty development, and overall departmental excellence. We also have funds to support specific programs or scholarships.
