GRADUATE STUDENT NEWS
- Yu Cheng, Ph.D. candidate, received the WMU Graduate College’s Dissertation Completion Fellowship Award for the 2025-26 academic year. Previous recipients include Rei Gordon, Amauri Pineda, Manuel Soque, and Brittany Brake.
- Ilay Inceefe, Ph.D. candidate, received the WMU Graduate College's Patricia L. Thompson Dissertation Award for the 2025-26 academic year.
- Rahel Kessete Afewerky, Ph.D. student, received the 2024 All University Graduate Reseach and Creative Scholar Award.
- Rei Gordon, Ph.D. candidate, received the 2023 All University Graduate Teaching Effectiveness Award. Other recent recipients include Manuel Soque in 2022 and Brittany Brake in 2019. Gordon also was named honorable mention for the Excellence in Teaching Award from the Midwestern Association of Graduate Schools (MAGS) in 2024.

New Graduate Programs
- Accelerated Master of International Development Administration Arts in Political Science: allows undergraduates at WMU to begin to accumulate credits toward the completion of a master's degree while completing their bachelor's degree; open to students majoring in Political Science, Economics, Sociology, Global and International Studies, or Environment, Geography and Tourism
- Accelerated Master of Arts in Political Science: allows undergraduate political science majors at WMU to begin to accumulate credits toward the completion of a master's degree while completing their bachelor's degree
- Kalamazoo College 4+1: K College students may be able to transfer undergraduate credits toward a WMU master's degree in political science
- Albion College 4+1: Albion students may be able to transfer undergraduate credits toward a WMU master's degree in political science
- Aquinas College 4+1: Aquinas students may be able to transfer undergraduate credits toward a WMU master's degree in political science
