Howard Wolpe Scholarship Award in Political Science for African Studies

Eligibility

 All applicants must have earned at least 60, but no more than 105 credit hours, credit hours toward an undergraduate degree in political science. Preference will be given to applicants with higher numbers of completed hours in political science. You must be a major or graduate student in political science.

Criteria

Selection Students must have demonstrated overall academic excellence at Western Michigan University and, in particular, political science and a commitment to use the scholarship support to engage in the study of Africa or selected African nations.

Amount and Duration of Award

The amount of the award is up to $1,000 for the academic year. 

Write an essay in which you describe your community service activities you have performed and your career plans or goals.

Your application form, essay and names of references are due in the political science department office, 3308 Friedmann Hall, by February 1. Announcement of the award will be made at the end of February. The award will be presented at the Political Science Honors Luncheon in early April.
