Lawrence Ziring Memorial Graduate Scholarship Faculty Nomination
This award, intended for graduate students of political science, was established in memory of Dr. Lawrence Ziring by his family and friends. Dr. Ziring taught at WMU from 1967 until his retirement in 2004. An expert on Pakistan, he served as director of the Master in Development Administration (now MIDA) program from 1995 until his retirement.
The Lawrence Ziring Memorial Graduate Scholarship Criteria:
- The awardee shall be a graduate student in the Department of Political Science with a record of strong academic success.
- Preference will be given to: students in the MIDA program and/or studying comparative politics; international students; students with demonstrated financial need.
- The scholarship selection committee shall be the standing selection committee in the Department of Political Science.
For nominations by faculty: A separate letter outlining your reasons for nominating this student must accompany this nomination form.
For self-nominations: At the time of this submission, you must include a separate statement describing your studies and your career plans or goals.
The nomination form and reference or statement are due in the Political Science Office, 3308 Friedmann Hall, by February 1. The award will be presented at the Political Science Honors Luncheon in early April.
