Grants and Contracts

Provides central oversight for post-award financial activities on sponsored projects

  • Account Fund-Cost Center setup
  • Review charges for allowability and invoice sponsor
  • Review and submit annual and financial reports
  • Facilitate payroll confirmation for sponsored projects (eCRT)
  • Compliance with award terms and conditions

Compliance

Oversees the conduct of research to promote integrity and maintain compliance with regulations

  • Human Subjects Research (HSIRB)
  • Animal Care and Use (IACUC)
  • Biosafety (IBC)
  • Provides required training in responsible conduct of research, human subjects research, animal research
  • WMU administrator for The Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI Program)
  • WMU administrator for ClinicalTrials.gov Protocol Registration and Results System (PRS)

 

Technology and Commercialization

Works to transform research at WMU into products, services and partnerships for the public good, generating value for the University and enhancing economic development in the region.

  • All IP generated by WMU faculty must be disclosed to TechComm
  • Assist WMU inventors in licensing and other commercialization efforts
  • Facilitate funding from MEDC and other sponsors related to commercialization efforts
  • Introduction to Customer Discovery workshops

 

Biosciences Research and Commercialization Center

The BRCC provides startup and gap funding to promising Michigan-based life sciences and medical device ventures entering the commercialization phase of development. Customers include entrepreneurs, scientists, University Technology Transfer offices and corporations.  

 

The Evaluation Center

Advances the theory, practice and utilization of evaluation through research, education, service, and leadership.

  • Mainly funded through external grants and contracts
  • Assists WMU faculty and staff by advising on  program evaluation and partnering on projects
  • Has an international reputation as leader in the field of evaluation
  • Home to the Joint Committee on Standards for Educational Evaluation
  • Operates a National Science Foundation-funded center to build evaluation capacity in STEM
