Wendy Wheeler has been teaching voice and piano for over 20 years Wendy's resume includes a variety of educational programs, theater work in many venues, and private vocal instruction for various music schools and colleges, as well as her own private studio. She currently works as a teaching artist with the Kalamazoo Civic Theater Academy of Theater Arts. With this focus on theater education, she enjoys working on youth musical theater productions, and has been involved with the national program, The Penguin Project, which gives the opportunity for differently abled youth to perform on stage. Wendy has sung with various orchestra and theater groups, performing Mozrt, Mendlessohn, Beethoven, Lloyd Webber, and such roles as Lily in “The Secret Garden”, Tuptim in “The King and I”, and Marian Paroo in “The Music Man”. She is an alumni member of the music fraternity Sigma Alpha Iota, and the Breakfast Optimist Club of Kalamazoo.
Coming from a firm foundation of vocal technique and vocal performance, Wendy works with each student to grow their abilities to meet their individual goals. Current and past students have been actively involved with school and community theater productions, as well as school choral programs, and several have gone on to pursue music education or performance in college.
