Expanding the Classroom

We are honored to welcome a wide variety of guest artists to work with our students each year in all areas. They conduct workshops and masterclasses, direct, choreograph or design shows, teach specific crafts, come to class in-person and virtually, and even perform with students. These guests and residencies expand on the expertise of our faculty and staff, share industry perspectives and experiences, and provide priceless networking opportunities for the students who engage with them.

"I met Universes in my last year at WMU! It was the first time I had experienced working with guest artists who shared a love for music, theatre and activism the same way I did. From creating harmony and rhythm to communicating important ideas and presenting new stories, it was a dream come true to be offered a spot in the ensemble. For the last six years I’ve been traveling, creating, performing and writing with the company and discovering my own unique voice. Being introduced to Universes through WMU Theatre changed my life and lead me to the people who I now consider family."
