Meeting with your undergraduate advisors early and regularly is essential to completing your academic program efficiently and to your success overall. Undergraduate advisors are eager to meet with you to help you explore majors and plan your path to finishing your degree.

There are four types of advisors you'll come to rely on for information and guidance:

  • College advisors help you map out your degree, make sure your program of study meets University requirements and provide guidance in selecting elective courses. If needed, they’ll refer you to advisors more knowledgeable in your specific major/minor.

  • Major/minor advisors assist you with requirements specific to your major/minor and academic department and help you build your timeline for taking required courses.

  • Exploratory advisors are specialized in helping you consider your personal interests and explore majors and careers to find a match that’s right for you.

  • University Studies advisors work with students looking to integrate prior coursework into an interdisciplinary University Studies degree. They help you select your concentrations, choose your electives and make a plan you can navigate to graduation.
