Gold standard in accreditation achieved

WMU Haworth received renewal of its accreditation from the AACSB International. AACSB accreditation is the most stringent set of standards worldwide for higher education in business. Less than 6% of business schools worldwide have obtained AACSB accreditation, and less than 2% of schools hold supplemental accounting accreditation. The college has maintained its accreditation since 1970 for undergraduate programs and 1981 for its graduate programs.

TIME ranks WMU as source of top leaders

TIME ranked WMU as one of the best schools for future leaders, citing it in the top 100 colleges that excel in nurturing highly influential leaders—noting the expertise of the Haworth College of Business in particular. To develop the list, TIME and Statista analyzed the resumes of 2,000 leaders in the U.S. spanning politicians, CEOs, Nobel Prize winners and others to determine where they received their degrees. The listing ranked Western at No. 79 in the nation and third in Michigan.

The Co. Lab comes to Kalamazoo

Mark your calendars for Sept. 25 to 26, 2024, for The Co. Lab, a small business conference that provides actionable insights from real-life experts and genuine, collaborative connections. Hosted by Western Michigan University’s Haworth College of Business in conjunction with Sleeping Giant Capital and made possible with the help of the Menard family, the event takes place throughout downtown Kalamazoo. Presentations are relatable and daringly honest.

Out for Business joins student organizations

Out for Business is one of the newest student organizations at WMU Haworth. The group seeks to create a safe space for motivated LGBTQIA+ business professionals and allies and provides guest speakers, workshops and career development opportunities, all while advocating for and educating others about the community. The organization became an official registered student organization in 2024 and is working to form programming for the upcoming academic year.

Second annual Bronco Challenge a success

The Bronco Challenge for Sustainable Impact, a campus-wide competition that tasks interdisciplinary teams of students with solving an issue related to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, awarded $22,000 in prizes. The winning team conceptualized Full Disclosure, a digital tool to help consumers get information about human rights and labor practices employed by businesses. Students Seth Byrne, Cloe Fetterolf, Victoria Loikits and Will Roosien split the $10,000 grand prize.
