Strategic Sourcing Superstar

Surgery Contract Specialist, Bronson Healthcare Group

Never has there been a more critical time for healthcare workers to have the resources they need to protect and save lives. Jared Coleman, a surgery contract specialist for Bronson, is using the fundamentals of supply chain to ensure that process is as effortless as possible.

Coleman oversees 10 surgical departments that total $30 million in annual expenditures and has led many strategic sourcing initiatives for the healthcare system. Most recently, he led a Materials Management Retention Strategy project that enlisted the help of four current integrated supply management students from WMU. He also played a pivotal role in projects that focused on zero-based budgeting and Plan for Every Part initiatives. These efforts helped improve ergonomics in surgical reprocessing areas and material storage for critical surgical cases.

A two-time honoree of The 30, Coleman continues to dedicate his expertise to WMU as a mentor to students and member of the Health Administration Advisory Council.

Best Learning Experience at WMU: “Internships I acquired through WMU Haworth. They taught me the importance of communication, networking and teamwork, and sharpened the emotional intelligence skills needed to be successful when working with others.”
