Michael Gulino, B.A.'65, MBA'66

After earning a B.A. and MBA from WMU, Michael Gulino launched his career at PAE Government Services (Lockheed PAE) in the Far East. He served in a number of management capacities on a 28,000 employee U.S. Army contract before being transferred to Washington, D.C. He then built the Washington operation into the most successful division of the company, growing revenues from $100 million to more than $600 million.

He served as president of a division of The Donohoe Companies, where he forged the company's entry into the federal government market.

He joined VT Griffin Services; in his role as president and COO, he was responsible for total operations and management. He played a key role in the acquisition of two companies at VT Griffin and grew the business to $450 million (over 400%) in three years.

He then joined ITT Corporation, a top-tier U.S. defense firm. As president and general manager of mission systems division, he was responsible for total operations and management of 23,000 employees; providing total systems' solutions for communications, command and control, range, spacelift, surveillance and needs plus logistics support and technical services for facilities and equipment. During his tenure, the business realized more than a 100% percent increase in revenue, from $1 billion to $2.2 billion.

He currently serves as chief development officer for ITT Defense and Information Solutions and is chair of the worldwide Emergency Response Committee of ITT Watermark.

Gulino has more than 30 years of defense-industry experience. He is a member of numerous defense-industry organizations and has served as chairman of the Contract Services Association (now the Professional Services Council) and has received a CSA Member of the Year Award. Gulino, an active student leader while at WMU, is a director emeritus of the WMU Foundation Board.
