Upon graduation from the Haworth College of Business and the Lee Honors College in ’02, with an internship with Kellogg under her belt, Nancy Hergott married and soon after began work on her master’s degree at Michigan State University in labor relations and human resources. She began her career at Stryker in 2003 as a recruiter and moved up throughout the years to her current position of Senior HR Manager in the Instruments Manufacturing Plant.

When asked what the biggest challenge in the business world today is, Hergott replies, "Communication.” She further notes, “With the strong presence of technology in society, we have to be sure to maintain communication that builds relationships and fosters an environment of sharing.” She knows that communication is what sets companies apart from competitors. Whether working with internal stakeholders within a company or customers of all backgrounds and walks of life, “Communication is a vital component to move an organization through change and/or growth,” she says.

Hergott’s career with Stryker takes her abroad frequently. In the summer of 2011, she began a twelve-month ex-patriot assignment in Germany, leading the HR team that provides support to the steering team in Freiburg. “I am very lucky to work for an organization like Stryker that is willing to invest in me for this type of opportunity,” she says. Hergott looks forward to further honing her communication skills on her overseas assignment.
