Arthur Johnson, MBA'80

Arthur C. Johnson is the chairman and CEO of United Bank of Michigan and chairman, president and CEO of United Community Financial Corp. in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Johnson was the 2009-10 chairman of the American Bankers Association (ABA) and now chairs the ABA Nominating Committee and CEO Search Committee. He is a past chairman of both the ABA Government Relations Council and the BankPac Committee and has previously served on the ABA Community Bankers Council and its administrative committee. 

Johnson also has served the Michigan Bankers Association in many capacities, including as its president in 1998-99, and he was named Michigan Banker of the Year in 2000. He is a principal of Bank Fund Capital Partners, LLC, which serves as general partner of the Community Bank Opportunity Fund, and is an advisor to that fund as well as a member of the fund's investment committee. In addition, Johnson is a director of The Employers' Association, a not-for-profit membership organization providing West Michigan businesses with human-resource-related information and solutions. 

Both the Michigan District of the Small Business Association and the Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce named him the Financial Services Advocate of the Year in 1988. 

Johnson earned a master of business administration degree from Western Michigan University.
