KALAMAZOO, MI— For senior sales and business marketing student, Dominic Reale, marketing is all about selling solutions. From Rockford, Michigan, the transfer student from Grand Rapids Community College (GRCC) has found his groove at the Western Michigan University Haworth College of Business, building both a strong community and future.

Coming from GRCC, Reale was looking for a place to learn and grow as both a student and professional.

“I was incredibly impressed by the tour of WMU Haworth. Everyone I met with was extremely supportive, and I connected with them immediately. I realized these were the types of people I would find success with. I was also very excited about the resources available to business students at WMU Haworth. The nice facilities have plenty of places to study and the benefits of having a dedicated career advising office can’t be overstated. Overall, I transferred to WMU Haworth because I could see myself achieving my goals here, and could see I would be given the tools to do so.”

Faculty and staff have made the process of transferring easy to navigate, according to Reale.

“The advisors and admissions department were extremely helpful and willing to work with me on any questions I had. They made me aware of scholarships available to me as a transfer student and exactly what I had to do to transfer my community college credits. Even after I began classes, I had meetings to discuss my plan to graduate from WMU within two years.”

Now as a WMU Haworth business student, Reale is being prepared for his career through real-world application of his skills and relevant job search preparation. “My classes mirror the type of work that I will be doing in my own career. Role-plays in my sales courses mimic authentic interactions, my economics and accounting classes have me filling out real forms and balance sheets, and my marketing courses have me presenting case studies to businesses.”

Outside WMU Haworth, the Bronco Marching Band has given Reale a place to pursue his interests and create lifelong connections.

“Joining the band and playing the tuba again was like riding a bike. It introduced me to so many people from different majors across campus, and I’ve made great friends. The value it has brought me is immeasurable, and I’m beyond proud to let my voice be heard as a part of the sound of WMU.”

With plans to graduate in spring 2025, Reale is leaving WMU Haworth knowing he is equipped to make a difference.

“WMU Haworth has given me all the skills and resources needed to land a solid job after graduation. I plan to put everything I have learned into practice while looking for job opportunities. The college has done a great job of preparing me for what comes next—it's my turn to seize the opportunities now.”
