KALAMAZOO, Mich.— For senior Alyssa Krazel, to make the most out of her time at Western Michigan University is to make lifelong connections. Originally from Farmington Hills, Michigan, the accountancy student at the Haworth College of Business is sure to have a promising career by making the most of her involvements on campus and experiences in her field.

Looking forward to her future, Krazel knows accountancy is the program for her.

“The thing that excites me most about the accounting field is how it is always changing. Getting the opportunity to continually learn something new on the job makes it so much more exciting and fulfilling. I’m ready to take on the challenge of each day being a little different.”

Krazel is preparing for the multitasking her profession requires by keeping herself busy on campus. She serves as the director of communication for Beta Alpha Psi, a co-ed organization for accountancy, finance and information systems students, is a member of the Accounting Club, Women’s Business Network and Alpha Lambda Delta. She also works as a WMU Haworth ambassador and a peer navigator at the Merze Tate College, where she helps to inform other undergraduate students of all that WMU has to offer. While these commitments occupy her schedule, Krazel has reaped the benefits that all these opportunities have to offer.

“Joining student organizations has become one of the best decisions I made during my time at WMU. I have developed professional and personal skills that I will carry forward into my career. There are many valuable experiences that WMU Haworth has to offer. There are people I have met at WMU Haworth through these organizations, and I know we will stay friends for life. I am very grateful to have such amazing, kind and compassionate people that I can call my community.”

Branching out from WMU Haworth, Krazel has gained internship experience that led her to a full-time position post-graduation. Working as an audit intern at Plante Moran this past summer, she was able to attend professional development workshops, prepare numerous files on the audit engagement, and support the engagement team with onsite audits to ensure compliance with manufacturing and distribution clients. Her dedication during her time as an intern paid off, as she will continue her career with Plante Moran in Southfield in August 2026.

Her success is a testament to both her hard work and the support of faculty and staff at WMU Haworth. “The college provides many resources like career advising, major-specific career fairs, mentorship programs, and professional development workshops, all of which have played an impactful role during my time as a student,” she says. “The accounting professors have also given me valuable guidance and real-world applications through the coursework to help equip me for the skills I need for my future career.”

As Krazel’s time as an undergraduate student wraps up, she is looking forward to her future. She plans on earning her M.S.A. through WMU Haworth and her CPA license. She will then head back to Plante Moran to begin her promising career in accountancy.
