Rachel Troszak is a finance force
KALAMAZOO, Mich.—For senior finance student Rachel Troszak, Western Michigan University’s Haworth College of Business is helping her create a strong framework for a fulfilling career. Originally from Clarkston, Michigan, Troszak is crafting a professional track entirely unique to her.
Having support from the college has not only made Troszak a successful student but also solidified her passion for her work.
“When I first started college, I wasn’t sure where I would fit in, but discovering finance and the opportunities WMU has provided has given me confidence in my path. I have been able to gain hands-on experience that has solidified my passion for financial analysis and strategic decision-making. The exposure to different areas of finance, along with the support of WMU Haworth’s driven students and faculty, has shown me that I don’t need to worry about finding the right fit—because I know I have the skills and knowledge to succeed wherever I go.”
Troszak is extending her professional scope through her internship with Sleeping Giant Capital. Working as a financial analyst, she is responsible for supporting due diligence activities for the CEOs in residence. This includes sourcing potential acquisitions, researching current prospects and using financial models to evaluate if an opportunity is viable.
In addition to her finance coursework, Troszak hones her financial skills through other educational activities.
“I have participated in the Association for Corporate Growth (ACG) case competition,” she says. “The ACG Cup is a finance-focused case competition where students analyze real-world mergers and acquisitions, investment banking and private equity cases. It is designed for MBA and undergraduate students interested in careers in corporate finance, investment banking and private equity.”
With over 20 student organizations at WMU Haworth, Troszak has made influential connections in the organizations she’s joined.
“I’ve been a member and the president of the Financial Services Association, a member of the Women's Business Network and a member of the Leadership and Business Strategy registered student organizations. Being surrounded by peers who are ambitious, hardworking and passionate about finance has pushed me to grow both academically and professionally. I’ve found a strong support system that has made my time at WMU Haworth both challenging and rewarding. The shared drive for success has not only helped me develop valuable skills but also build lasting connections that will extend beyond graduation.”
This summer, Troszak will be in Austin, Texas, working as a financial analyst for Dell Technologies. She is also planning to attend the business and culture study abroad trip to Thailand, making the most out of her final semesters.
