Backpacking Brewer

Founder, Nomadic Beerworks

Daniel Tyranski has always pushed past limits to improve and evolve. His professional career began with General Motors, where he worked as a program purchasing buyer, successfully negotiating procurement contracts that saved the company millions. Taking every chance he could to participate in General Motors’ robust training opportunities, he learned how a mature organization works.

He carried those skills to Viasat, a mid-size tech company in California. Tyranski was in charge of managing aftermarket support as a depot resource planner in an increasingly packed service warehouse, implementing process improvements and developing operational standards.

Today, as the founder of Nomadic Beerworks in Austin, Texas, he is reaching for excellence once again. The brewery’s philosophy is, “The safe zone never produced a good story, and it never created great beer!” Tyranski considers himself a bit of a nomad too, having backpacked all over the world. Now, he’s building a world-class brewery that crafts adventurous beers—and will be growing production 78% in order to meet demand this year.

Hobbies: “Woodworking. I actually built all of the furniture and decks at the brewery.”
