School of Theatre and Dance

WMU Dance students receive comprehensive, tri-focal training in ballet, jazz and modern dance techniques; explore and articulate a sense of themselves as dance artists and their role in the greater dance community, and engage with the professional dance community through artist residencies and immersive experiences. WMU dancers are noted for their strong understanding of fundamental movement techniques as well as their versatility and ability to adapt quickly to today’s contemporary styles.

WMU Theatre offers conservatory-style training at a public university price. Theatre students have direct engagement with theatre, film and television professionals from around the world. Our main stage productions are often recognized for their excellence. We have received top honors at the prestigious American College Theater Festival at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. Alumni are regularly featured on Broadway, television, film and in regional theatres, and have received numerous Tony nominations.
