Alumni Mentoring App

Do you have questions about how to approach business and team issues in the classroom, an internship or another setting? Are you looking to establish yourself as a business leader but unsure of how to take the first step? Are you looking for advice on your career path and options? These are common questions, but the answers are unique to you! The Haworth College of Business is excited to offer an app that allows you to anonymously connect with experienced WMU Haworth alumni who can advise you throughout the semester—and possibly beyond.

Because the process is anonymous, you have the freedom to ask professional questions in a safe space. In addition, implicit bias will not be a factor in your mentoring relationship, as your virtual mentorship is designed to specifically remove any potential barriers to your interaction. At the end of the semester, if both the mentee and mentor wish to share their identities in order to stay in contact with each other, there is an option for creating a longer-term relationship.

This virtual mentorship is available to students in their sophomore, junior or senior year.

Available mentoring spots are limited to ensure the quality of the mentoring experience. Students will be matched in the system on a first-come, first-served basis.

FAQs

Students are matched on a first-come, first-served basis, and the process will be coordinated by the dean’s office. Spots are limited. If you are not matched this semester, there will be future opportunities.

If you are not matched with a mentor this semester, you will be added to a wait list in case a spot opens up with a mentor. Also, if you are on the wait list and are not matched with a mentor this semester due to limited availability, you will be the first to be contacted for next semester’s mentoring opportunities.

Mentors are all experienced executives who graduated from the Haworth College of Business. Though the process is anonymous, the mentors are business alumni known to staff at WMU, and are professionals who can give you good advice from their own experiences.

If you have questions about the process or the app if you are matched with a mentor, please contact Allison Youtzy in the dean’s office.
