Kalin Currie, B.B.A.’20
Quality Queen
Quality Control Manager, Amazon
Kalin Currie just keeps moving—and keeps inventory moving at Amazon. After completing her degree in business analytics and leadership and business strategy, she began her career as an operations manager responsible for the overnight shift for outbound shipping at the Grand Rapids distribution center. Leading 200 employees and overseeing an average of 300,000 packages per shift called for Currie to draw on her attention to quality and keen analytical skills, areas in which she excelled.
Recognized for her superior leadership, Currie continued to move up, earning four promotions in four years. She now serves as regional project manager for inventory quality assurance. In this role, her prime responsibility is leading complex projects, including a recent project where she partnered with nationwide support teams resulting in cost savings of $750 million. On top of that, Currie stands out in Amazon as part of the 6% of female leaders at her level across the Amazon Robotic Sortable network.
Not only does Currie bring her work ethic to her 9 to 5, she also excels at building meaningful connections within her workplace and giving back to the community. She created the affinity group Families at Amazon to cultivate connections among families and caregivers within the organization. In addition, she organizes blood drives and mentors young people through the Metro Detroit Youth Club.
