B.B.A.'07, Leading by Example

After graduating from Western and spending three years in South Carolina working for Cintas Corporation, Alexandra Loveland, B.B.A.’07, moved back to Michigan and took a job at Career Quest Learning Center, an educational facility offering classes and certifications that prepare students for new careers or career advancement in health care, information technology and business.

In her role as a career services coordinator, Loveland helps students achieve their professional goals by coordinating externships and helping to place them in jobs after graduation. The Haworth College of Business prepped her for this career not only on a professional level but also by example.

She thinks back fondly on the interaction she had with faculty during her time at the college of business. Whether it was a question about a paper or tips for an upcoming interview, she remembers that professors always went the extra mile to help students succeed. Dr. Tim Palmer was a significant help to Loveland, “He was (and is) a very important resource for me during my job hunt and helped me figure out where my life was headed after graduation. Thank you Dr. Palmer!”

Loveland knows the value of hard work in establishing a successful career and the importance of being passionate about one’s career.

What’s next for Loveland? Realizing the importance of lifelong learning, she’s off to earn another degree. She will begin the M.S.W. program in macro social work at the University of Michigan in the fall, eager to continue her education, advance in her career and lead by example.
