Associate Manager, Flex Financial, Stryker

Joining Stryker as a finance representative in its Flex Financial unit in 2020 right at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, EJ Montgomery took every opportunity to develop his skills while achieving Stryker’s goals. A recognized leader, he was promoted to senior finance specialist in 2022 and then promoted to associate manager in 2023.

In his time at Stryker, he has financed over $100 million in capital equipment, helped grow the financing portfolio of the Sports Medicine business unit by 89%, and was named the Lone Star MVP for contributions to representatives’ sales quotas and services provided. In 2022, Montgomery’s territory received the John Brown Award, given to the territory with the highest percentage of growth within a year. Montgomery’s proudest accomplishment to date has been pioneering the diversity, equity and inclusion committee within Flex Financial, called “FIT” (Flex Inclusion Team).

Montgomery’s days are full and varied as he meets his core responsibilities. He conducts a daily office hours chat to assist with training and coaching new employees in company processes and procedures. He regularly helps representatives reach their sales quotas with a driven focus on bringing in new business and closing sales. He’s the auditor of active deals for finance specialists in order to ensure accuracy in executable contracts and is actively involved in the development of his direct reports. Also, he recently undertook a continuous improvement initiative to develop a quoting system for the Sports Medicine business unit, allowing sales reps to provide solutions to their customers in a timely manner.
