Paul and Julie Yelsma Family Communication Scholarship

Application Instructions: Criteria and Process

The Paul and Julie Yelsma Family Communication Scholarship is given annually to a student who demonstrates academic promise in the area of small group (teamwork), family, or interpersonal communication.

Amount:

Each academic year a scholarship of a minimum of $500 is available for one student

Selection Criteria:

1. Full time undergraduate student with sophomore or junior status and a major in the School of Communication

2. A minimum GPA of 2.75

3. A record of academic promise in the area of small group (teamwork), family, or interpersonal communication

Application process:

1. Applicants must complete and submit the Yelsma Scholarship application form.

2. Applicants must submit a two-page essay addressing any their interest in the area of small group (teamwork), family, or interpersonal communication. This can include descriptions of classes taken, projects, and assignments

3. Submit your materials by February 26, 2024 using the application form below.

Timing:

1. The scholarship recipient shall be named in the spring for awarding in the following academic year (2024-2025).

2. Each award shall be distributed one half in the fall semester (2024) and one half in the spring semester (2025).

3. Students graduating in Fall 2024 will receive the award for fall only.
