Bio:

Alyssa Allgood is a jazz vocalist, songwriter, bandleader and 3X DownBeat Magazine Critics Poll Rising Star, praised for her "force, clarityand jazz integrity" (NYC Jazz Record). Drawing from both the vocal and instrumental jazz traditions, Allgood performs heartfelt originals andcontemporary arrangements of standards with a voice that moves from tender to bold, and "improvisational prowess" (DownBeat) that putsher at the center of the band's conversation.

The inaugural winner of the Ella Fitzgerald Competition and a 2X Chicago Reader Poll Best Individual Jazz Musician, Allgood hascommanded iconic stages including Jazz at Lincoln Center Shanghai, Dizzy's, Birdland, Mezzrow, the Green Mill, the Jazz Showcase andBlues Alley. She has recorded with internationally renowned musicians Geoffrey Keezer, John Patitucci, Kendrick Scott, and Greg Ward, andhad compositions selected as finalists in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest and International Songwriting Competition. Allgood has beenrecognized as a leader in the jazz community as a recent recipient of the Ponta Lopud Jazz Festival Fellowship in Croatia and the ChamberMusic America Performance Plus Grant.

Allgood is a highly sought-after educator, with guest artist appearances at the Jazz Education Network, University of North Texas and KansasCity Community College; masterclasses at Purdue University, Northern Illinois University and the University of Chicago; and ensembledirecting for the Illinois and Pennsylvania District Vocal Jazz Ensembles and the Iowa All-State Vocal Jazz Ensemble. Allgood also teachesjazz voice at Loyola University Chicago and maintains her own private lesson studio.
